I'm not sure a more
beautiful place
exists on the earth than Quarai. The red stone walls of this old
Spanish
mission are breathtaking. The mission was established in 1629
on an already existing Tiwa Indian pueblo and abandoned by 1671
due to lack of water and constant raids by other Indian tribes. Quarai,
along with Abo and Gran Quivara, form the
Salinas
National Monument.
