Corner of Church and Canal Streets.
The Church Street Grill is an old-fashioned drive-in. In the days of fast food that is more generic than anything the Church Street Grill is a welcome change. All the food is made fresh on order. So what kind of food is there? For starters they have wonderful "Old-fashioned grilled cheeseburgers." I cannot express in words how good these are. Of course, I always order mine with Hatch Green Chili. This brings me to the mexican food. There are burritos, tacos, and taquitos. You can get green chili beef burritos, combo burritos and for you vegetarians, bean burritos. There are green chili tacos, beef tacos and bean tacos. Their tacos are not made with pre-formed taco shells. The tacos are prepared fresh on the grill when you order.
The owners, June and Clint, have not left the drive-in for others to run but instead are there daily to ensure the quality and consistency of the food. This is not a "greasy spoon." The mexican food especially appeals to my taste buds. The tortillas are fresh as they are daily by a local tortilla maker. The green chili beef is seasoned with just the right spices and amount of green chili. There are also sandwiches, chicken and steak fingers (delicious gravy to dip in), chili dogs, chili poppers, and many other things just as delicious.
