Embudo Station

Location

Embudo (between Santa Fe and Taos)
In the Rio Grande Gorge about 25 miles north of Espaņola

Review

This is an open air place to eat, that is 20 feet from the Rio Grande (closer in the spring). They serve excellent food, the bar-b-que in particular. They also serve excellent sandwiches and New Mexican food.

AND! They brew some of the best beer and ale to be had in Northern New Mexico. Their various 'red' ales are especialy nice.

It's a wonderful rest stop on the way home from a hectic trip to Taos. We always stop if it's open (it's closed in the winter). Being as how it's necessary to cross the river (on a one lane bridge) the traffic noise on the Taos highway is significantly diminished. The kids can play in the river while we relax with a beer.
