New Mexico was undoubtedly the first region of America to produce wine when, in the 17th century, the Spanish planted vineyards and started the history of American wines. The volcanic soil, combined with strong sunlight and cold nights, enhances the delicate flavor of our wines. Production is strictly limited to one ton of grapes per acre, which is half the volume allowed to the great French Bordeaux and Bungundy areas, making our wines equal to the best in the world.
