The Learning Disabilities Association of New Mexico (NM-LDA) is a nonprofit volunteer organization affiliated with the Learning Disabilities Association of America (LDAA). LDAA gives support and information to persons with learning disabilities, parents, teachers, and other professionals through 50 state affiliates and 800 local units. NM-LDA is headquartered in Albuquerque. Dues of $25 per year entitle a family to belong to both organizations and receive their newsletters.
President of NM-LDA for 1999-2000 is Gail Stewart.
NM-LDA meets once a month from August through May and offers a variety of programs that feature guest speakers and give people who attend an opportunity to ask questions and share experiences. There is no charge for attendance at regular meetings, and both members and nonmembers are welcome.
Each year in October, NM-LDA sponsors a State Conference bringing to New Mexico prominent speakers from across the country.
